The Lucrehulk-class Battleship is a Pentastar Alignment capital ship obtained from the Corporate Sector Authority worlds of Bonadan, Ession, and Etti IV. It is armed with 48/4 Turbolasers and 100/10 Laser Cannons.
When the Trade Federation began creating its military, the Executive Board realized the need for large cruisers to transport their weapons across the galaxy, battleships to defend against starfighter attacks, and flagships for controlling their vast legions of battle droids. Reluctant to spend the credits necessary to construct and purchase a fleet of military vessels, the Trade Federation began modifying a portion of its Lucrehulk-class freighters into warships.
These newly-christened battlecruisers were first primarily used during the failed Blockade of Naboo. After the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation was ordered to disband its military. Pretending to do so, the cruisers were disassembled; instead of disarming them, though, the centrisphere was converted into a detachable command ship and more guns were added.
During the Battle of Geonosis these ships were instrumental in the survival of the Separatist Movement, with the centrispheres evacuating personnel and droids to the outer rings for escape. During the Clone Wars, the Lucrehulk would receive further upgrades, with the addition of hundreds of guns. Lucrehulks served as command ships, carriers, and military supply vessels. Well armored and shielded, it took an entire fleet of Republic Star Destroyers to drop the shields of a single Lucrehulk.
After the end of the Clone Wars and the formation of the Galactic Empire, most Lucrehulks were decommissioned and scrapped. Some fell into the hands of Separatist holdouts and groups such as the Rebel Alliance. A large shipment of these cruisers was sold to the Corporate Sector Authority, where they were used as part of the Defense Fleet.
After the Battle of Endor, Grand Moff Ardus Kaine formed the breakaway Pentastar Alignment. As a gesture of good will, the Corporate Sector Authority donated several Lucrehulks to the Alignment in exchange for a non-interference policy and the assurance of the protection of CSA interests. The aging juggernauts would once again see active duty, only this time in a support role, rather than one of combat.
The Lucrehulk is the Pentastar Alignment's unique capital ship. At 8 population points, it is much larger than the traditional Imperial and the Imperial II Star Destroyers, more closely resembling the Praetor Mark II-class Battlecruiser in stature. Like the Praetor, the Lucrehulk's population cost means you will seldom see more than one in a battle. Unlike the offensively-oriented Praetor, though, the Lucrehulk is designed to function in a command and support role (along the lines of the Endurance-class Fleet Carrier). It holds a maximum of 38 fighters, and deploys 8 at the start of the battle. This makes it ideal for long-term fighter support, providing a protective screen for heavy assault ships.
The Lucrehulk's primary weakness is its age. An old ship well past its prime, it has weak shields and weaponry. However, if given the proper support it can be a menace on the battlefield to fighters and capital ships alike.
