AT-PT Ingame

The All Terrain Personal Transport, abbreviated AT-PT, is a light vehicle available to the Imperial Remnant, Pentastar Alignment and Greater Maldrood in Eras 1–5. It is armed with 2 Blaster Cannons and a Concussion Grenade launcher.

History[]

Manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering (a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards) the AT-PT was designed to transport a single trooper into an intense combat situation without backup. It would become the basis for the Imperial AT-ST and AT-AT. Designed for the Galactic Republic decades before the Clone Wars, the AT-PT did not become relevant until the Clone Wars, when small anti-personnel walkers were needed. During the Galactic Civil War, the Empire used a number of these walkers, with some serving among Darth Vader's famed Blizzard Force. The majority of the original production run, however, was lost aboard the Katana Fleet. When the fleet was discovered by the New Republic and Empire, they would see much more frontline duty in the following years.

Due to it not being an Imperial design, many of the walkers were stationed in remote quadrants of the galaxy. When Grand Moff Ardus Kaine formed the Pentastar Alignment, the AT-PT became their main anti-infantry unit.

Use Ingame[]

The AT-PT is the second of four anti-infantry units for the Imperial Remnant. It is the smaller cousin of the more well-known AT-ST. Whether the AT-ST or the AT-PT is the superior unit is a subject of debate. Proponents of the AT-PT point out its greater speed, ability to stack closer together for more concentrated fire, and the ability to Hunt (making them excellent scouts). However, the AT-PT has weaker armor and is more expensive than the AT-ST (for unknown reasons). The AT-PT should be used by the player who favors speed, map control, and less microing of their units. AT-PTs hunt in packs or with infantry, AT-STs can function as a lone wolf.

The Pentastar Alignment and Greater Maldrood, on the other hand, do not have access to the AT-ST. Therefore, AT-PTs are their primary anti-infantry unit and should be fielded in almost any ground assault. Their function as a fast scout/anti-infantry dovetails nicely into the primary strategies used by the PA and GM, whereas the AT-ST would be somewhat out of place.
